D-I-Y > Umbrella pouch

description: Convert an old umbrella into a handy pouch for storing anything you need. Plus it's waterproof.

ingredients:
- fabric from a broken umbrella
- 2 buttons
- 2 shoelaces for the drawstrings

tools:
- needle and thread or sewing machine
- straight pins

instructions:
1. Separate umbrella fabric from spokes.

2. With the wrong side of fabric facing up, fold in 1" of the fabric from edge and pin. Sew along the pinned edge leaving about 3/4" hem.

3. Pick 2 panels directly across from each other and use scissors to make an opening in the seam at the hem. The is where the drawstring will be threaded through.

4. Thread your shoelace around perimeter of fabric, beginning and ending in the same spot. Tie the ends of the shoelace together.

5. Take your second shoelace and begin on the opposide side of fabric and thread through same way.

6. Take one button and place it in the center inside of the bag. Holding it in place, put the other button on the outside center of the bag. Sew the buttons together, patching up the hole where the umbrella was removed from the frame.

6. Pull the drawstrings together and your bag is complete!
